Insuring a Vehicle

Insuring a Vehicle

A vehicle must be insured before it can be used on the road or public places. If you are the registered keeper of an uninsured vehicle, you could get penalised regardless of who is driving the vehicle.

Penalties include:

• fixed penalty of £100
• the vehicle could be wheel-clamped, impounded or destroyed
• you could face court prosecution, with a possible maximum fine of £1,000 and you will still have to pay for your insurance on top of any fines received

It is very easy to check whether a vehicle is insured or not by accessing the Motor Insurance Database here
